He consolidated the empire during his reign by launching large-scale infrastructure projects, introducing scientific advancements (better maps, better calendars, medical institutes, and paper currency), and favouring Chinese philosophy and culture over Mongolian traditions.

Although his benevolent, peaceful nature is often depicted, this man had many other sides. Arigboge and his brother had a rivalry that resulted in a series battles, which led to Arigboge's defeat. A heavy drinker, he also suffered from gout all his life. This contributed to his obesity. He died in 1294, at the age 79.
